Here I am returning from hiatus. 2010 has been a wild ride thus far. I’m working on this DMA full time. Some Ohio universities are still on this bizarre quarter system, so in the past month, I have performed my preliminary recital, done five research projects, and had countless assignments and exams. Now, in the middle of finals week I’ve been moving to a nicer apartment in a safer neighborhood (a much needed change). I’m no longer sure what day it is at this point; however I am sure of one thing: I’ve still got it!
How do I know I still have it? Someone asked me out for drinks today! The sad thing is that it has been so long since this phenomenon has occurred that I completely missed the invite until I’d already inadvertently turned it down. Alas, I don’t have time for socializing anyway. Bedtime comes early when you have a toddler, and bars are killer on the voice. Plus, people usually frown on taking babies to such establishments. Who knew?
Even with nothing comes from such an experience, it sure is nice to feel wanted from time to time. It doesn’t do anything to hurt your self-esteem when it happens when you are slumming in yoga pants, a loose green tank-t0p, and a mismatched scarf wrapped around your head, while you’re taking out the trash. Thanks handsome young carpet installer for making my day and reminding me that I’m still one hot singing mama!
